Criminals no mannequin
for first rate society
Re: “Letter: Belief our voters, juries concerning demise penalty” (Mercurynews.com, Jan. 8):
Letter-writer John Haggerty hoped Gov. Jerry Brown wouldn’t abolish the demise penalty earlier than he left workplace, “as a result of many criminals, themselves, clearly imagine within the deterrent impact of the demise penalty each time they ‘execute’ the violators of their ‘guidelines.’ They don’t give rule breakers ‘three hots and a cot’ for all times as you now suggest.”
This begs the query: Ought to our voters and jurors look to criminals and murderers as examples of how a good society is to behave or can we be higher?
