One of many largest white diamonds ever produced by the Argyle mine within the east Kimberley area of WA could also be one of many remaining important finds of Australia’s most well-known diamond mine.

The octahedral-shaped 28.84-carat stone, named Argyle Octavia, was found in March.

“We do not see many this form, or color, or that readability, usually out of the mine,” Argyle normal supervisor of operations Andrew Wilson stated.

“We have most likely seen 20 of these within the final 36 years of operations, of the plus-20-carat dimension.”

Mr Wilson stated it was uncommon for a stone this dimension to even survive the mining course of intact.
