Millington, TN (WREG) — A girl is in crucial situation after her 8-year-old son by chance shot her whereas at a baseball recreation Tuesday night time, police mentioned.

The kid reportedly had discovered the loaded gun inside a World Warfare II jeep that was on show at Millington USA Stadium as a part of a veterans appreciation occasion.

The proprietor of the gun has been charged with reckless endangerment.

“The juvenile believed it was a toy gun. He picked the gun up, pulled the set off and by chance shot his mom. It was an accident, pure and easy,” Millington Police Chief Mark Dunbar mentioned.

The mom, who remained acutely aware, was rushed to the hospital in crucial situation.

The sport — between College of Memphis and the College of Tennessee Martin  — was suspended, and the roughly 2,000 followers have been evacuated.

The jeep and the gun belong to Charles McFarland, 76, of Atoka, Tennessee.

Police are hoping the investigation will reply why the weapon was left within the car.
