Witnesses stated the four-wheel-drive nearly struck pedestrians because it veered off Pirie Avenue and onto Hindmarsh Sq. simply after 9am at the moment.
One bystander advised 9News the motive force appeared to intentionally steer towards the tree.
“He began driving erratically and immediately sped, a fairly deliberate drive into Hindmarsh Sq. and there have been some individuals standing close to the tree that he is hit, they scattered,” witness Paul Richards stated.
“They only ran. He crashed his automotive, bought out and was very agitated.”
Police consider he had been concerned in an argument with a lady, who left the scene moments earlier than the crash.
The 39-year-old driver from Pooraka has been detained and is present process evaluation on the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
